So looking forward to being immersed in nature (and apples!) at @oldtreecollective’s Apple Land festival at @threepools_permaculturefarm next weekend! I’ll be giving a workshop on the ‘Cycles of Earth and the Body’, where we’ll be placing ourselves on the Wisdom Map (passed on by my mentor @_clairebaker_ with thanks to original creator @janehardwickecollings), observing how the yearly seasons can mirror the seasons of life and our body, and thinking about how we can best look after ourselves in each season.
Tickets include workshops and food and are very reasonably priced - do come and join us and be enveloped by nature and joyous community 🍏 🍎 ✨

Here’s a wild idea for you - our comfy shoes and smooth paths are stopping us from receiving the full mental health benefits of our walks! Our ancestors’ brains used to be preoccupied with communicating with our feet - “ouch avoid those rocks, tread lightly here, oooh soft grass!”. But now, without this constant source of information, our brains are left to their own devices…and if you’re already prone to disassociating, ruminating, or anxious/intrusive thoughts, you may find that these thoughts continue on the walks you’re taking to try and improve your mental health. If this is the case, you may greatly benefit from switching up the terrain you walk on (even if for only part of the walk) and wearing ‘barefoot shoes’ - specially made shoes with thin and flexible soles that allow you to feel the terrain without the risk of your feet getting cut or punctured. Of course walking barefoot is also an option when you feel it’s safe, and many tout the health benefits of ‘grounding’ (having your bare feet on the ground). Either way, you’ll be amazed at how quiet or sparse your thoughts can become as your feet and brain concentrate on navigating changeable terrain!
